OVERVIEW
Founder, Posie Kalin, started her arts business, Heartworks LLC, in 2020 to facilitate arts programming in Spokane, WA. She soon moved into creating her arts & ecology integration program fall of 2021 partnering with teachers in Spokane Public Schools, galleries and professional artists. Kalin realized in order to better serve the community and have a greater impact bringing the arts to youth she needed to shift to a 501c3. Kalin received her MFA from Portland State in 2008 and brings over a decade of professional expertise in art education and leadership to Heartworks. She is a current participant in the following programs this year; ArtsWA TATLab , Spokane Neighborhood Leadership Academy (SNLA) and Terrain's Creative Enterprise. Kalin has also been accepted into the Doctorate of Education and Leadership program at Gonzaga University. Past partnerships have include projects with Pratt Academy, Spokane Valley High School, Terrain, Saranac Art Projects, Spokane Arts, Spokane Library and regional professional artists. Over the academic school year of 21'-22' Kalin worked with teachers and 200 students using both digital and traditional art mediums as the vehicles for learning and expressing concepts illustrating ecological interdependence to encourage self-awareness and a richer sense of connection with peers and our surroundings.
